Got this tray for my wife who recently had knee surgery and needed a serving tray for her recovery. There have been many comments on the product listing explanation for all bamboo designs. To be clear, the surface of the tray (flat serving surface) is not wood. This is a plastic material with a vinyl layer imitating bamboo. Just remember that this is suitable for light food. The tray's frame and legs are actually made of bamboo. However, as others have noted, the finish on these parts cannot be completely sanded off. Lead needs a bit of regrinding to prevent chipping. The legs are fitted so they remain folded. The general appearance is pleasant. I got mine on sale so there's nothing wrong with sending it back. But it's frustrating to order a product with incorrect information in the listing.
