Light looks good, bright, has features, easy to install. Until you get to the Wi-Fi connection part. I have a 2.4GHz and 5GHz Orbi Mesh router in the same device. Any IOT device that only required version 2.4 was connected without any problems before these ads appeared. No real endorsement from Govee as they claim 5GHz is too strong so it shuts down the device. I want to turn it off because the device won't connect. Netgear support replied stating that Govee is not handling Wi-Fi data transfer correctly in their app. Govee claims to connect through a hotspot, which defeats the purpose of connecting to my wifi. As router technology changes and moves more towards 5GHz mesh networks and AX (WLAN 6), Govee needs to rethink the product and application. *** To update. Govee offered a full refund on July 3rd and asked me for Revain part numbers. Today July 6th at 11:30am they responded with additional troubleshooting steps instead of a full refund. Update: Govee refunded me for the product and I've changed the review to better reflect the current status. There's still no support for 5GHz, only 2.4GHz, meaning mesh systems won't work. Another issue is that not all features are available when using a wireless connection. Confirmed by connecting the device to a 2.4GHz hotspot on my phone and verifying functionality between Bluetooth and WiFi. You can turn the lights on and off via Alexa, change colors but not patterns. Many special promotions are only available via Bluetooth. I would love to see Govee provide full details on their product versus Alexa and a wireless teaser. Disaster states that Mesh only supports 2.4GHz and that Alexa is enabled, but not all features are supported. Which one? Great set of light but be careful to know what the item will actually do.
