Review on Hunter Fan Company 59389 Pendleton by Heather Seay

Biggest disadvantage of the built-in controller

The aesthetics of the fan are the strength of this ceiling fan. But the limitations of the onboard controller make this fan average at best. Some of the limitations are: 1. If you have installed a double wall switch, the light switch will only work when the fan switch is on. Because the integrated controller is only supplied with power via the fan switch. The fan speed can only be controlled by the remote control, not by the fan wall switch.2. Due to limitation #1, it is not possible to control a smart home. With traditional pull chain fans, you can always install Z-Wave or WiFi smart switches to control fans and lights. The built in controller prevents this option as turning off the fan with the wall switch disables all fan functions.3. The LED light is a not very bright soft white bulb. There don't seem to be any brighter replacement bulbs on the market that would match this fan. The details of the embedded controller are not mentioned in any of the fan product descriptions. Had I known, I would have dropped this fan and looked for a pull chain option (or at least one of their SimpleConnect fans).

Pros
  • The reversible motor allows the fan to change direction from downwind in summer, which helps cool the room to upwind in winter and circulates warm air under the ceiling.
Cons
  • For seniors
