They are great for navigation. The display is not digital/electronic and does not obstruct the view. The compass has an input that collects ambient light, so you don't have to turn on the red LED until after sunset, when there is no light to collect, to see the compass. I figured I would need this feature and with the batteries that came with it didn't work well enough to get a directional behring. However, the optics were sharp, clear and the settings tight and reliable. I've read a lot of negative reviews that just don't make sense. As if they should give better instructions blocking the view from one side or the other and there should be a black dot where the compass and navigation wheel are. They are tuned for a wide stereo image and the dials are centered. The compass is shown below the scale in the bottom center. They are a good weight and balance with a solid grip. It's not rocket science, so you don't need a slide rule or calculator, and that gave me a good look at Saturn. They are designed for sea level use or flat surface navigation and I don't see how you can beat the price for a product of this quality. . How can you undercut the price for a product of this quality? . How can you undercut the price for a product of this quality? .
