Good enough to keep

Central focusing mechanism is rough and jerky, attached lens caps fall off with the slightest touch and terrain is very sensitive to alignment. As the boat is always in motion, this means that the image is often partially obscured by black "shadows" moving from the edges - not at all what one would expect from a 50mm lens at such a low magnification would expect. My other binoculars are from Leitz, Nikon, Pentax and Bushnell. I would buy another pair of binoculars from any of these…

Great for the price!

Great for the price. I bought a nice pair of binoculars in 1969 and they worked great until last year when my boat sank and it didn't survive. (Water has entered the left lens) In fact, the right side is still working. But anyway, on the Bar Marine Corps they are really understandable and I like the features, buoyancy, water resistance, range finder and glowing compass. They're only good for one person because of the individual focus adjustment, but for a hundred bucks you can buy a pair for…

Possibly bad battery

They are great for navigation. The display is not digital/electronic and does not obstruct the view. The compass has an input that collects ambient light, so you don't have to turn on the red LED until after sunset, when there is no light to collect, to see the compass. I figured I would need this feature and with the batteries that came with it didn't work well enough to get a directional behring.
