Kingston might want to spend some time with their tool software

My read/write tests are within Kingston's specs. The capacity is 55.90GB/60,019,835,904 bytes. systems. Both came with firmware 505ABBF1. Since these are bare drives I went to the Kingston support site to check the downloads and saw that there was 525ABBF0 firmware available for this model, as well as "Toolbox 2.0" (which is version 2.0.7A after extracting and running). The software (which only works on Windows. Apple/Unix/Linux users don't seem to deserve the inclusion) has a "Firmware Update" option. Sad to say it's useless. When you click the button, the message "There are currently no firmwares available" appears. Strange because 525ABBF0 is listed on the Kingston website. Reading the instructions again confirms that my method was correct. but nothing is updated. When using the "Details" portion of the "Dashboard" software, there are options to "Identify Data" and "Smart Data". Each of these options opens a small window with all of the text in it selected (as if using Select All/Invert Text in a large text document). It's very annoying that all the text is displayed this way. A very small point, but one that draws my attention to the lack of quality assurance in their methods. Other brands of SSDs that I have can update their firmware by booting from the USB/CD that the ISO file is on. This method is operating system independent. Kingston lets us use Windows to update the firmware. I consider this an unacceptable limitation. Before I bought these 60GB Kingston drives, I bought a pair of 64GB Sandisk drives for $2 more than the 60GB Kingston drives (on sale). Should have bought 4 Sandisks and skipped the Kingstons. Once I update the new firmware, my need to use Kingston Toolbox will likely go away. I just don't know how to get the new firmware that the Kingston website says is available but their tool software doesn't say it.
