If you need something to clean the air, this isn't it. I let it run for about 30 minutes before I started cooking and 20 minutes after cooking and it couldn't detect any odor, smoke, etc. I plugged in another black model and after about 5 minutes it detected an odor and was all red. time when I was preparing. I leave it on until I'm done cooking as it obviously does the job. I am sending back the small white and black one.
