I drilled a 3/4" hole in several layers of 2x4 and decking to run the Cat6 cable through. Cut very well. I would not recommend using a hand rest as it will take a lot of effort and time. Also, do not try to use a cordless drill as this bit requires a lot of torque. Your drill should also have a second handle. Use a slower cutting speed, around 500 rpm. As for the manufacturer's claim that it cuts through nails, I'd be surprised if it did and retained its cutting edge as well. It's for a tree and it takes a decent amount of power to propel it. However, I recommend the beat.
