Review on πŸ’» VGA/DVI Kensington Universal Notebook Docking Station - sd300v by Eduardo Purewal

Works great with Snow Leopard

If you have a MacBook Pro, you can connect your monitor to your laptop with an inexpensive adapter. This Kensington Dock allows you to connect a second monitor to your laptop, giving you three screens including the laptop screen. If you follow these instructions, this device will work properly with the latest (April 2010 update) MacBook Pro laptops. running 10.6.3.1. Buy and install a docking station, but DO NOT INSTALL THE BUNDLED SOFTWARE2. Download and install the 64-bit driver (currently in beta) from DisplayLink: [.] The 32-bit driver (not in beta) works fine with Snow Leopard unless , You need portrait mode (screen rotation). The 64-bit driver fixes this. I'm running 1200 x 1920 (maximum resolution) in portrait mode with no issues. Before that I used ScreenRecycler which is much slower. This dock's video speed isn't "native" but acceptable for browsing, word processing, and even YouTube works in windowed mode (but NOT in full screen - you can see the lag).
