Great smart doorbell with few issues

I've been using the eufy video intercom for a few weeks now and overall I find it a great product for the price. There's definitely room for improvement, so I've put together a list of pros and cons below, but for the price, this is a great deal. If the missing video clip and false alarm bug are fixed in a firmware update I can give this video doorbell 5 stars. Until then it gets a respectable 4 stars from me. Pros: - Video quality is good (although HDR quality is not very good. See cons below). - The doorbell recognizes people very quickly and sends me an alarm almost immediately. - Notifications on my iPhone are accompanied by a photo of the person at the door. - Looks elegant. - Comes with an angle plate. - No subscription fee! - Cheap. - Really, very fast startup time. I exit the eufy app, then reopen it and the video from the doorbell starts streaming in seconds - about 1 or 2 seconds. The application also starts very quickly. Cons: - The documentation mentions that if the doorbell glows amber during the setup process, it's getting enough power and I don't have to bypass the existing doorbell with the included bypass wires. However, I've noticed that after setting it up and trying to ring the doorbell, the doorbell beep (the "ding-dong" sound the video call makes to let you know it's ringing) stops immediately the call was interrupted. A part of a second. This issue was resolved when I manually disabled the existing doorbell sound even though the video doorbell was getting power which told me it was getting power but not enough. - The doorbell keeps recognizing the tree in front of my house as a person and sending me false alarms several times a day as you can see in the attached screenshots. I had to create a detection zone and exclude the tree to avoid false alarms. - HDR images are not very clear. HDR video looks good, but the photos it takes and sends to my phone when it detects a person could be better. - Sometimes when I answer the doorbell from my phone, the video is not recorded or saved. The other day I rang the doorbell and then went back to my story to try and download the video clip but it wasn't there - nobody deleted it. it just didn't survive. - The bell is easy to detach from the wall if you have a thin metal stick. No special tools are required, so I'm afraid it might be stolen one day. - Requires multiple detection zones. A single detection zone is very restrictive. - I need an "ignore zone" in addition to the detection zone so that I can exclude the area where my road is visible. - We need a way to show which video clips were the result of a person at the door and which were the result of a doorbell ringing. All I see is a list of video clips with no indication of whether or not the doorbell rang. It must also be specified whether I rang the bell or whether it was a "missed" call. EDIT [2019-09-16]: After using the doorbell for over 2 months I have another complaint. The eufy security app logs me out if I don't use it for more than a few days, causing me to miss app notifications. I want the app to tell me it's signed out so I know I'm no longer getting notifications.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Unbelievable price
