Review on Philips DVDR3576H Recorder 160GB Built by Randy Jagers

At first I looked everywhere for a hard drive burner because I didn't want to make a DVD for all the shows we wanted to watch. And I didn't want to pay monthly fees like with TIVO. As of March 2009, this product was not available from Wal-Mart in our area and from any other retailer recommended in the Philips online store. So I had to pay about thirty percent more than Wal-Mart's original retail price of about $290 through Revain. But I have to say, the quality of the recording on the hard drive is close to high resolution. The Philips DVDR3576H 160GB Hard Drive was easy to set up. The remote control is moderately complex, but reading the manual solved most of the problems. I have never used a DVD recorder and will at some point. My device is set to the highest quality hard drive that allows 32 hours of recording. That's all we need because we delete shows after they've been watched and it's not meant for long-term program storage anyway. That's why you should use a DVD burner. After recording to the hard drive, simply press the HDD button, then the title button and each recorded program will be previewed in separate boxes on the TV screen. Highlight the one you want and then press OK to play it. We've struggled with VHS recording for years, this machine is light years ahead of us in image quality. It's a really great device and it's a shame that Philips makes it so difficult to buy. In short, it's about as good as it gets, and the device was worth the premium I paid.
