worked great! in snow chains

I bought these chains because I was afraid of the price and didn't know if I needed chains for my Audi allroad (tire size 225/65 R17). As it turned out on the Christmas ski trip, even with good M+S tires and quattro drive, there can be road conditions that require safety chains. 30 miles of solid ice snow, an encounter with 8 wrecked cars and a horrible accident, I was very glad I spent the money. So we found a stop halfway through the stages, put the chains on and were very happy from then on. I've installed chains twice. This is very simple, takes 5 minutes on each side, take them off - 2 minutes. They ride great thanks to a continuous row of chain links around the wheel's circumference. They don't shake the car as much as normal diamond chains. The movement on asphalt seems very smooth. I haven't tested them swerving into tight corners and staying at 35mph, but their benefit is that they fit into a complex and narrow wheel assembly without the need for special rims and narrower tires to accommodate crowded circuits create what is a real blessing. The instructions aren't the greatest, but they're not complicated either (Thule has a YouTube video showing the installation). Check the jam nut size and order an extra large adapter if needed. My chains came with an adapter but the standard size fits my car. And put the chains on and put them on the sidewalk at home so you know what you're doing when the going gets risky! I can't say how long these chains will last if you have enough wheel clearance, maybe full chains are cheaper, stronger and even more reliable, but the K peak is a great compromise.

Pros
  • Mounted on the original wheel nuts/bolts (no anti-theft device). No contact with aluminum rims.
Cons
  • Quality
