Use a hair dryer to heat the wood surface or cutting board you want to work on. As the water heats up, heat the wood surface using high heat and low blowing speed. Leave the hair dryer on until the water boils and blow on the cutting board. Take the kettle off the stove. Pour water into a shallow saucepan so that the bottle is at least half submerged, label side up. Wait a few minutes and continue heating the cutting board with a hair dryer. Wear gloves, put the hair dryer down, take out the product bottle and wrap it in a towel. (If the water is too hot, use tongs to place the bottle in the towel.) Shake the bottle wrapped in a towel to prevent water from splashing out of the wet bottle. Make sure your finger is gripping the top of the lid so it doesn't pop open when you shake it. Then put the bottle back in the water, label side down. Wait a few minutes and continue heating the board with a hair dryer. Remove the product bottle from the water, wrap it in a towel and shake well. The product should now flow like water after being fully heated, melted and mixed. Now pour the product onto the cutting board with your right hand and keep it warm with the hair dryer in your left hand. Cover the bottle with a lid and put it back in the pot. Rub the product with your right gloved hand. The hot air from the blow dryer should keep the product smooth and viscous so it can penetrate the wood. Rub the entire surface of the board in a circular motion, applying more product if necessary. Be careful to rub into the sides of the board. Then rub in straight lines across the entire board in all directions to ensure even coverage. Use long even passes of grit and focus on even coverage and try to keep lines to a minimum. Turn the board over and apply to the other side when the time is up, or just do one side at a time and the other side the next day and allow each side to dry completely. After one hour at room temperature and low humidity, wipe the plate lightly. dry paper towel to remove any streaks as the product has started to set and excess oil is coming to the surface. After 24 hours, wipe again with a clean paper towel to remove excess oil from the surface. You now have a very smooth and sealed surface.
