Excellent FM and weather reception and only satisfactory on AM. FM stations almost tune in when you click on them. The sound quality is clear given the small size, and better sound can be achieved with headphones. The flashlight is quite bright and it's great to have a solar battery and hand grip as a backup power source. The hand crank will charge a cellphone, but be prepared to turn the crank fairly quickly for a long time to build up a lot of charge. 2 or 3 minutes gave me 1% on my phone (with switched off as instructed). Not great, but not inferior in principle. I am very happy with the purchase, I would have given five stars if the AM reception had been better. Update 12/11/2017 - There has just been a winter storm which has cut power to the area for a while. This radio kept us up to date with FM stations and weather forecasts without having to switch to AAA batteries (I kept them in reserve) - just solar power and the occasional after-dark start. The weather band reception was really excellent as the nearest weather station was shut down by a storm and we listened to a station in another nearby state for updates. This radio helped a lot because the only cell tower in our area was also down for a day and a half. Happy camper here, I would buy another in a heartbeat.
