Great weather radio for the price and lots of ways to power it

I bought these for emergency bags and they are light enough, small enough and efficient enough to get the job done. Here on Long Island it gets a decent signal (for AM/FM and NOAA) and the crank works well enough to charge the internal battery for short emergencies. It feels a bit "cheap" (plastic and light), but then again, the device's light weight keeps it from adding too much weight to our emergency bags, so that's mostly a plus. One thing I didn't understand is that the device can be…

Fragile solar/crank radio bad tuning

I use this radio outside when I'm working on my car. The solar panel holds a charge well. You can also connect a micro USB cable (not included) to charge it with your phone charger. The sound quality is so-so. It's quite loud, but rather "tinny", which is probably due to the small speaker. My main complaints about this radio relate to its ability to tune into radio stations. The scale markers are turned off. So if you want to hear 104.7 you may need to set the dial to 103. Once you've tuned…

Good device for weather radios

I received this gadget this morning. Appears to be a quality product. I had the radio on for about eight hours. The only source of energy was the sun. The radio is very sensitive. Stations that I find difficult to receive with the other radios in my apartment sound clear and distinct even without the antenna set up. The flashlight works great. The only downside I found was the phone charging. Based on the description Revane gave, I had a vision of charging my cell phone using solar energy. It…

Excellent FM and weather reception

Excellent FM and weather reception and only satisfactory on AM. FM stations almost tune in when you click on them. The sound quality is clear given the small size, and better sound can be achieved with headphones. The flashlight is quite bright and it's great to have a solar battery and hand grip as a backup power source. The hand crank will charge a cellphone, but be prepared to turn the crank fairly quickly for a long time to build up a lot of charge. 2 or 3 minutes gave me 1% on my phone…
