I first bought one for my axolot tank because they don't like moving in heavy water, it destroys their gills. That was excellent. The filter is very quiet and flows very well. The water flow through the filter is really stable. The suction holes are on the bottom so it can be used in an aquarium or terrarium with only a few inches of water. Then I took it off and tried it on my frying tank. Still worked great. The little pump is great because it sucks water up through the bottom and then pushes it out the spout. So if the supplied filter insert is not enough for you, you can put a piece of filter sponge in it so that it works even better. You can hang it on the edge of your aquarium with the included adjustable rear hanger. There are 2 nice suction cups on the back. Works really well, I almost wanted to take it and use it instead of the heater I have lol. I opted for suction cups instead of hangers. Both worked fine, so it's a matter of taste. When the item arrived I was a bit skeptical. Looks simple and nothing special. I'm glad I was wrong. When the filter arrived I opened it up and noticed fine black dust all over the filter. Because he was white he looked dirty. Then I realized it wasn't the dirty filter that went with it, it was charcoal. It was just charcoal dust, which most filters have. After a quick wipe with a paper towel, everything was fine. Before using the provided filter cartridge, rinse the filter with tap water for a few seconds to remove excess carbon dust. Most filter cartridges you buy say they will anyway. You will like the price.
