Great product for fish and aquatic animals

I can't say enough about this breeding trap. The filtration system is perfect for moving water through the trap, it's large enough to comfortably house a 3-inch fish for several days while she's in labor, and the suction cups are like cement to an aquarium wall. a brood trap and refuge, and sometimes to isolate mean or diseased fish. Overall a great product.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • High Price

Works for our little ones

We bought this nursery when we found 7 very small orange fish swimming around in our aquarium. That works great. I removed all dividers and 7 small fish have more than enough room to grow safely. I put a piece of the plant in the nursery in case they wanted to take cover. You hold the box about 1 inch above the water so the little fish can't escape. Very happy with this product.

  • Great product

It works, but requires some imagination.

This works fine, but you can't fully immerse it in water or it will float. Also, the box has very poor airflow, I ended up putting it on one of my bubblers to get good airflow. This has worked well for my guppies in the past. I managed to separate women from men so that they can give birth without problems and stress. And the babies could be kept separate from all the other fish until they were old enough not to fit in her mouth :)

Won't hold roast

Where to start? If you install it on the side of the fish tank with water at the right level. Due to the aquarium frame, you cannot remove the lid or block from the mount. Some kind of inconvenience. One of our Mollys had over 20 fry. All but two escaped through the cracks. We had a 3-4 week old baby of unknown breed that the aquarium salesman gave to my daughter as a gift. Its length is about 3/8 inch. Somehow he ended up in a breeding tank! So the aquarium is basically useless for the safety…

Did my job! suitable for aquariums

In short, my guppy was pregnant three times. Each time I tried a different type of nursery. This is the only thing that worked. I have about 7-8 guppy brood in the aquarium. I'm not sure how many were actually born because she had them when I wasn't around. The holes hardly seem wide enough for the juvenile fish to slip through. I don't breed guppies so I don't care. (Although I don't like the idea of the juveniles being eaten.) I have a few females and one male in a community tank. I'll update

The outer slots are too big and the newborns escape to their deaths

Other reviewers are right, my newborn guppies and mollies easily slip through the outer slots of this breeding trap and escape into the main tank where they are stalked by other adult guppies be eaten. The outer slots are too wide. However, I have found a solution: I use a brood net to enclose this plastic element to keep the escaped young in the net and safe from the adults in the aquarium. The Net Breeder Block is also sold here on Amazon with a green or blue plastic frame. The brood net…

It's like a premium guppies delivery room!

This is one of two grow boxes I have and this is definitely the best. A built-in filter/air intake is required. Another great feature is that the suction cup mount and the box itself are easy to attach and detach, which is very convenient when you need to adjust the position or take the box out for cleaning. I would say that about 75% of the juveniles swim/fall to the bottom of the box out of reach of the mother and about 25% stick out until the mother lovingly eats them, but that's not just a…

Molly Fry's heads get stuck in cracks and dangling body parts get eaten!

I have not had a single brood that has survived this breeder. I have guppies and piebald juveniles that survive in 2 of my other tanks without the use of a breeding tank but one of my tanks has too many thorns and other excited fish that usually eat all the juveniles before I even know what mom gave birth to. So in this one tank I decided to give this grow box a try. I've put Sword Moms and Molly Moms in it and so far none of the boys have survived. Some bodies get stuck in the V-slots and…
