Extremely disappointed!

I was so impressed with the LeoFoto tripod legs and small ball head that I bought it and had high hopes for this large ball head, but was extremely disappointed. The product I received is almost unusable. This ball head looks well made at first glance, has smooth operation, tight tolerances and fine workmanship. But the drag knob is almost useless: the scale goes from 1 to 10, but all the action plays out around settings 6-7 depending on where the main knob is, and it takes a very tight turn to get around to achieve an effect. Why add an almost useless third grip? It's almost impossible to quickly set the desired resistance level. They copied the look and feel of RRS, but not the function! Also, this is probably a defect in the particular block that I received, but the ball friction disc is not attached to the body, it rotates with the head that locks the steering rack dropouts. (See photo). Did the fitter forget the glue to fix the seal?!? The Manfroto X-Pro ball head I have (made in Italy and half the price) just works much, much better; The clutch handle is indexed by clicks and works independently of the main lock handle. If it wasn't for the defective seal I would give it 3-4 stars, the only drawback is the design of the clutch handle.

  • Nice
Cons
