I have used this to replace worn out sisal rope on my cat scratching posts and it is perfect. There is no smell or anything that could scare cats away. I'm sure I'll have to repeat this process at some point, but for now this rope may wear out less than the rope that was originally on the scratching post. When making a new scratching post, be sure to measure the old rope, because the length of the rope wrapped around the scratching post is deceptively long.
