Get a torque wrench attachment!
These retaining rings are reverse threaded (really loose) so purchase a torque wrench attachment and use a standard 3/8 ratchet wrench to remove. Will be the same price or cheaper than a giant socket or wrench. With the rear wheel installed, loosen it so you can hold the wheel to keep it from spinning. Use a torque wrench to reinstall.
