Conclusion: do not bother with these antennas - original antennas on routers of well-known brands (Asus, Netgear, Tp-link . etc.) may work better than these. Details: My router is on the 2nd floor and my desktop is on the 1st floor. I bought these antennas to mount on my router to improve the wifi signal on my desktop. After installing these "claimed" 8DBi antennas, WiFi reception on my desktop actually got 4dB worse (RSSI changed from -49 to -53). The sweet spot is that they can work (the higher the antenna gain, the narrower the WiFi radio cone, so micro-adjustment of antenna directions may be required). It didn't work at all. The signal quality of these new ones will not be better than that of the old ones. I'm sending them back as they didn't work in my setup.
