You get what you pay for
I've used cheap aluminum versions all my life. This one is much more accurate. It's also a lot harder. I tested my table saw at 90 degrees. The aluminum appears to have deflected about a degree and a half. This device was top notch. I mean it's the cast iron and it's a lot less wobbly. The ones I used are going straight into the trash.
