I've always changed my oil so I was a little annoyed to find Toyota uses a proprietary filter/element cover. There's no need for such stupidity as it's easy to design a cap that removes with a socket, filter wrench, etc. and leave the filter wrench, but the angle of the cap and other stupid protrusions make removal a struggle of wills the cap like this. After my second oil change using traditional filter tools, I decided to invest in one of these special cap tools. Wow. It's that easy. I still resent the stupidity of Toyota's design, but now that I have a special tool I don't care. I would sign any petition asking Toyota to include this tool with every new car purchase! If you are stubborn like me and want to change your oil without this tool. I understand. But if you want to free yourself from grief, take this tool. I'm now on my second new Toyota (RAV4 and Camry) and it continues to work wonders!
