This is a decent cap light. Let me say, however, that unless you're a dedicated hat wearer like me who can't go out without your hat, you're mostly better off getting a strap-on headlight rather than a cap light. For me, I've been wearing my Greek Fisherman's cap for 40 years and can't go out without it and headlights interfere with cap wearing too much. I use it at least 5 days a week walking about a mile to and from the bus stop which is mostly suburban streets and an office park but also includes a short jaunt through a dirt trail in the woods. That said, the things I like about this one.1. It's not rechargeable but uses standard AAA batteries so I don't have the issue of forgetting to charge it or having it drain the batteries before I can charge it. If I run out of battery power I can buy some new ones almost anywhere. If you're more disciplined and don't use it for extended periods of time, you might want to consider a rechargeable model.2. It's not as bright as, say, the Atomic Beam headlight but the Atomic beam achieves part of its brightness by a tightly focused beam that makes it hard to see areas in your peripheral vision. I like this one because it spills over a little. That might be a drawback for somebody who's using it to search for something at night or something like that but for mostly suburban walking, it's ideal.3. It's not too heavy. Even with the AAA batteries it's not a bad weight. Some things I don't like about it.1. The clips are molded to the body and one of them has already broken after two weeks of use. I'll have to resort to some epoxy repair for that. It would be nice if it had a screw-on metal clip . if they sold replacement clips but then I guess that would be a little much to ask in the era of disposable products.2. It's designed to fit under the hat but is too large to be comfortable. My forehead bumps against it and I can't get my cap on completely without pulling it out a little On the bright (pun intended) side, it works the other way around too . though perhaps not quite as stable.3. Like almost all devices with slide off battery compartment lids, it won't stay in place for long. You'll have to tape it down. I used that metal duct tape but gorilla tape works well too.So, for the price, it's not bad if you really need a cap light instead of a headlight.
