Good for traveling light and alone - a FORK is required

I saw this and was tempted to try it! I travel and sometimes find myself on a camping trip or somewhere without access to a kitchen, so having such a portable kettle next to me is very handy! The first thing to know is that, like many foreign-made heaters, it will smell when you first use it. That. I recommend washing the mug with soap and water first and soaking it in water a few times which you won't drink until the factory coating has burned off. Then you can use it as you like without the smell of the heating element. The second thing to know is that this is NOT BATTERY OPERATED. This plug is not for charging, it requires AC power. And lots of it. I was hoping I could use a portable power bank to run it when I'm not near an outlet as I have a pair that will run in the field with a 110V AC plug. But the ones I tried put out a maximum of 85-100 watts, which is about three times as much. So it's not a good camping accessory, many car DC inverters can't handle it either. Rather, this product requires actual access to an AC wall outlet. Using it in my office with an outlet was a breeze, it boiled water in minutes as expected, was nice and hot, much more portable and less messy than a kettle. Note, however, that this is actually a single-serving device. You can't use it to make coffee for two (unless they're very small cups). It's all pretty obvious from the list, so I wasn't surprised by any of it. If all of this satisfies your usage needs, I would say that this is a good product that comes in very handy!
