I've spent so much time with this device that I'm hesitant to spend another second checking this damn thing. I bought this particular device for its WiFi capabilities. I don't have a computer, we use iPads and phones for our needs at home. Garmin does not download software or map updates. It gives me a message asking me to use the Garmin Express app on the computer. Em. why does it have wifi? Disappointed but wanted to try this thing out I rented it. He calculated that the route took me to a busy road and I had to turn left, then left again, and then right. I put the same destination in Apple Maps and made a 1 right turn and it got me there, Apple Maps was better (which no one ever said). I tried a few more routes almost just to see where the two devices would take me, and each time my phone came out better. Speech recognition was useless. He only understands the sentence of awakening and stays there. He doesn't understand house numbers and names. I took it inside and after charging it turned it on in the car and tried to update again. Rejection, not joy, rejection. The device's screen is great, but the capacitive Touch ID isn't great. I had high hopes for this little device. But I ended up buying my phone mount for $15. Garmin has a 7 inch color screen. My iPhone 8S has a 6" color screen, Siri and navigation work! I will use some data to have working navigation. I encourage you to read the reviews and make your own decision, but for me this device is a Huge flop. Good luck, safe journey.
