I hope I got this 18v jigsaw 2 days ago so I'm not entirely sure sure how to rate them. I'm giving it 4 stars for now. I bought this to replace my 12V which I bought a few years ago. I have 12v and figured I wouldn't use it often. But it turns out I'm getting somewhere. There is nothing wrong with 12V. Ideal for 3/4 inch or less, even 1 inch thick cuts great. But if you're cutting something thicker or longer, it just won't do. I just tested 12v and new 18v on a machined 2x8 piece. The same blade. 18v ran like clockwork. No problem. Blow the dust off the road so I could see where I was carving. Switched to 12V and 18V at the same time to cut everything in the photo. 12v just cut the small piece. It was much more difficult. It took me a little more effort to get it through and the dust just collected in front of the blade so you couldn't see where you were cutting. 18v seems a bit heavier (I have an XC5.0 battery on it). But not much. At the time of writing this article I think I will be much happier with 18V.
