Not cheap, but worth it

Ordered this for my new MacBook as it only has a USB-C port. At first I only used it to charge my MacBook while backing up to an external USB-C hard drive (LaCie LaCie Rugged 1TB USB-C and USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive + 1 Month Adobe CC All Apps (STFR1000800)). Has worked flawlessly. I then got a 4k TV as a combo "projection screen" for my office, but I also wanted to use it as an external monitor. Since Apple doesn't support 4k AirPlay, I had to connect via HDMI. After reading all the bad reviews about the original Apple HDMI adapter (mostly confirmed in store by one of their partners), I decided to bring one from home and try it out. Again it did not disappoint. Now I can use my 50" 4k TV on the wall as 4 external 25" monitors each 1920x1080. I haven't tried sending 4k video streams through it, so I can't yet say if its performance is good enough for that. Now I'm ordering a second one.

Pros
  • Stable test results
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
