This thing is worth every ounce it's worth.

I have just completed the review of the Zoeller backflow preventer. So I thought it best to share my experience with this ejector pump. I live in an old mid-century house from 1959 that is in dire need of maintenance. (I'm looking forward to the renovation) Anyway, when I moved in, I had a bad smell the whole time. As a city dweller, I have never dealt with an ejector pump. So, as a botanist, I started researching pumps. I found that Zoeller had the best reviews, a reputation bolstered by a plumber looking at an old pump that literally sounded like an explosion pouring waste down the plumbing. My cats would have heart attacks every time the old pump failed. I think they're still hurt. (And honestly, I think they plan on getting me back.) This pump is usually a bit more expensive than the "plastic" models, which are around $100-$200. On the other hand, the Zoeller is cast iron and usually lasts about 30 years. This way it won't be corroded by water like small plastic jet pumps and being cast iron it's much quieter. Every time the pump starts I have to stop and hear how it works. When buying an ejector pump, make sure you have a Zoeller backflow preventer. You will not regret it.
