Review on πŸ“± SmartiPi Touch 2 - Raspberry Pi 7 Inch Touchscreen Case with Cooling Fan by Jason Hinrichs

Revainrating 4 out of 5

It's actually nice. finally

They try to simplify the assembly thank god, but they obviously didn't get any feedback from some test users. The official RPi touchscreen comes with the controller already attached with supports on top. You have to remove them and use screws or the screen won't fit. It does. Nice. It feels solid, professional, and commercial. Oddly, the pivoting legs aren't centered - I'm sure it's for some reason, but it looks odd. The instructions assume you have a camera and should have a stream pass. The Raspberry Pi 4 fits perfectly, but the screws in the frame are pointing up over the board. I started with the racks and the door didn't fit. I've been playing around with this for too long. I changed the racks to nuts. Have you ever tried tightening a tiny nut with near zero backlash without a micro wrench? I picked a bad day to have a cup of strong coffee. I fiddled with the door a lot and finally realized that nothing would fit the door. I think the door holds the board. But I had to remove all 4 nuts. It came with a fan and looked like stock product. All the parts needed were there and packaged nicely. Looks great and the frame fits well. Note that you have to almost completely disassemble half of the Pi to swap out the SD cards. My time? Too long even according to the instructions. All in all money well spent.
