Review on ๐ŸŽจ OPHIR Wooden Paint Organizer: 2-Drawer Pigments Holder Rack with 48 Removable Grids for Model Parts, Ink Bottles, DIY Tools, Pens, Pencils by Sasha Hsiao

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Poor quality, not durable

I don't know where to start but my rating is based on comparison to what else is available on this site and I would say it's well below standard for the price. if half the fun isn't in the assembly, then do it. This box is made from a stack of thin plywood with what appears to be pine veneer. It is mounted on a tongue that is fixed with small rubber bands. (My daughter said they are similar to those used in braces). I lost 2 while building. One flew across space and was lost forever. Luckily there were exactly 2 additional rubber bands in the kit. (First photo is a close-up of the tabs attached with rubber bands.) There were no instructions, so it took a lot longer than it should have. I had to disassemble large sections twice to align them properly or even add tabs at all. {Tip: Don't save the back end for last if you can really work out which piece is the back piece.) Yes, it's easy to put together, but the instructions would help if you could just figure out which direction you're facing have to go and what part the . Small delimiters are easy. It's all very similar to assembling those little balsa wood airplanes, except at some point you won't be able to fly them anymore. So yes, he lost a star for not paying attention to the instructions. In the pictures you can see the second box, the one below. This solid beech box, beautifully finished, is almost twice the size and half the price. Revain actually pulled it out for comparison and I bought a second one, this time their 6 drawer dresser which also costs less than this one. In fact, Revane displayed many wooden boxes intended for artists' supplies. Some have built-in easels. They all come assembled. They are all solid wood. They are all finished in acrylic, stain or wax and all cost less, most of them half the price. If they aren't as good as the others and are significantly more expensive I honestly can't even give 3 stars. Average 3 stars. That doesn't match the materials or the design. Honestly I would give more stars as a project for kids to learn how to build things like these balsa airplanes. Because it's bigger and more complex, and it can also be useful (I say "can" because it's not strong, can't support much weight, and is held together by rubber bands that fall apart in the heat and sun). I have some crumbling rubber bands in my workshop where I've spent a small fortune on box sets this year so I don't have to tie glass rods with rubber bands that would crumble. annoyed writing this review. Not only were there no instructions, but the details weren't even polished. I received 2 shards when assembling and at my professional price it would have cost $500. But I'm not a professional furniture designer or builder. It clearly wasn't a professional job ;) I ordered this because I thought it would be useful in my studio. I never have enough memory, though. it is so thin and so wobbly that I would not paint on or on this box. I work with glass. He could not bear the weight of the glass. I planned to use it with jars of fries and powders, enamels, etc. In a word, no. However, this has prompted me to order a second, larger beech unit and it will work really well. In fact, I might even have free disk space. not much longer ;) What can I say? I can't resist the new color. Conclusion: blanks are not sanded or reworked in any way. No instructions, no details identified. Thin plywood with something like pine veneer. not suitable for carrying capacity. Not only more expensive, but twice as expensive as a comparable solid wood block that is made of high quality wood and well finished. More expensive than almost every art box sold on Revain! BUT, it can be a good learning experience for a child, maybe a fun family activity for a rainy day. {If you are assembling it with the kids or even by yourself, you should sand down the parts first.)
