Review on VDP πŸ”’ 32501 Secret Storage Compartment by Mark Gancio

Revainrating 2 out of 5

The case is made of plastic and is held in place by a small screw? And it's called memory?

Just received this today and installed it in my Jeep Wrangler and I was blown away by how flimsy it is! First of all the biggest downside; The lower half of the vault is PLASTIC! #2, it's a lot smaller than the space it fits in, so it's VERY easy for a thief to just get their hands under the whole thing and pull it out! There's only one small screw (and a couple of metal "wings") holding it in place, but if someone pulls on it, the wings stay in the jeep and the screw just pops off the plastic base! While this isn't a solution, you can put a large washer under the small wing nut to secure it. Can't really complain because the photos here at Revain show it pretty clearly that it's plastic, but when I read "storage" I kind of assumed it was all metal. Honestly, if someone stuck a prybar under the edge of the metal at the top, it should pop open fairly easily since the sides are plastic. I would write down how I do all this, but now that I have it I might try not to break it. Luckily I have a locker lock in the back door so someone has to open my locked back door. to get to this "crypt" and it's hidden under the carpet. However, I have a friend who is a police officer and he told me that all thieves know about this safe and how easy it is to get it out. He said they could do it in 30 seconds and run away with everything! Anyway, I hope that as long as I keep the tailgate locked, everything will be fine. I just wish this thing was solid metal and had more than one little screw holding it in place! I plan to drill 4 holes in my jeep to put 2 thin metal rods or slats on top of the storage case so it won't be easy to pull out. As for now, I definitely wouldn't trust him with my iPhone or wallet when I'm at the beach. Especially when the thieves know where to look and what to do!
