Review on Pro Series 4-Bike Carrier with Q-Slot (Model 63138) by Eric Williamson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Very durable. The ability to separate it if needed and use it just as a two wheeler holder is a plus.

Overall I like it. It pairs well with our bikes (both men's and women's balance bikes in 24" and 26" wheel sizes) and seems to work well on smaller or larger bikes. I've set it up but haven't ridden it yet, although it seems very educational so I don't expect any problems. What I really like is the two piece bike rack so we can only use half of it if we only need two bikes. Also, the rear half alone fits the 1 1/4" hitch that our other car has (a 2" hitch is needed for the front half or for all 4 bikes). The only thing stopping me from 5 stars is that the wrong part came in the box and customer service is slow to find a replacement. Revane told me to send me a brand new bike rack, then I'll take what I need and ship the rest back (at no cost to me). That's fine, but the date they receive is 6-8 weeks after I brought this issue to their attention! They said it was the quickest thing they could get me, although I see the same rack is still available from Revain with a delivery time of around 1 week. Nonetheless, I'm happy with the purchase and will increase the stars once I receive a replacement. The part they got wrong is the wheel holder. They sent 5 on one side and 3 on the other, not 4 on each side. In my photos you can see that the wrong part does not hold the wheel as securely. However, I don't expect this to be a problem as it still seems fairly secure. I will be adding an extra rope or velcro to this wheel until a replacement arrives. UPDATE: They shipped the replacement quicker than originally stated. Luckily it arrived in 2 weeks instead of 6-8 weeks. We've used it several times and it works great. Update: Be sure to tighten the top mounting hook very firmly, especially on women's bikes where the top link of the bike is at an angle. If the top link of the bike is tilted and the bike moves slightly to the left or right, the bike handlebar may slip under the mounting hook. Since my wife and I recently took advantage of the split design where each of us took a bike rack for two bikes, we both separately discovered this problem on the same weekend! The rear bike slipped under the top hook and the bike was rotated 45 degrees with two wheels clamped in the bottom brackets and that was the only thing holding the bike in place. No bike has been dropped or damaged and now as I tighten the top hook I carefully check for left/right play and push the top hook as far as possible. Overall, my wife isn't a big fan of this bike rack, but I still like it.
