Monitor via HDMI more direct than one of those USB hubs. Cable stays cool and transmits adequately to my LCD monitor. Only personal observation, I will report that for some reason it only works with 3 of the 4 Thunderbolt3/USB-C ports on my Macbook It consistently does not accept video from a specific port on my laptop Neither Apple reps nor I understand why , but I breathed a sigh of relief to learn that this is not a problem with all my Macbook connectors, all of which I subsequently tested at the Apple Store (for video and USB storage/data).After confirming, As there is no faulty hardware/connectors on my Macbook, I still enjoy using this cable for my desk monitor.
