Use wood glue for a solid construction
The size was accurate for a small protrusion of the rod. I was concerned about durability after reading some of the reviews so I used wood glue on all areas of the footpegs including the bolt holes. Leave upside down for 24 hours until completely dry. Be sure to wipe all areas with damp paper towels to remove excess material. Strong as a rock now. Nice stool.
