Review on πŸ“» Yaesu VX-6R Walkie-Talkie by Michal Kucharski ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I really like the product, it fully meets my expectations.

this is my first radio. I took 4 devices at once - for myself, my wife and friends, and used them in the mountains of the Chamonix region. When fully charged, the radio shows excellent reception and transmission. The whole valley was confidently covered with reception, from the peaks of Breevnt and Aigul the reception was generally without interference. I was surprised by the device when we left for Le Tour (about 12 km along the mountain gorge, but without a direct line of sight to the place of our housing) and I tried to contact my wife (I was at home). The reception was rather weak, but the speech was read without tension and very clearly. As soon as I moved about a couple of meters to the side, I found a good place where I heard my wife without interference. And this is for 12 km (in a straight line, judging by the map)! In the evening, returning home, the walkie-talkies were completely wet with sweat, but this did not affect either the work or the appearance after drying. When fully charged, the voltage (there is a sensor in the radio) battery voltage is 8.2V, at the end of the day (approximately 20-30 minutes of total conversations, of which 10-15 minutes for transmission, the rest for reception) the battery voltage did not fall below 7.4 V Vskidku, the radio stops working when the voltage drops below 6.4 V, that is, for 12 hours of operation, the charge was at the level of 50%. Conclusion: very satisfied with the device! ate 03/05/2022: 7.4 V for a two-cell battery means almost zero charge. I didn't know this when I wrote this review in 2022. Total: for 12 hours of use, described above, the radio was almost completely discharged, which in any case is very cool for this class of radios.

Pros
  • excellent reception even with a standard (universal) antenna, power (5W), support for the MIL-STD-810 standard (very convenient when riding in the mountains and active sweating and falling), small weight and size, magnesium (alloy) case. With moderate use, the charge of the radio is enough for the whole day.
Cons
  • not seen
