Review on Olympus DS 3300 Digital Voice Recorder by Victor Kakaruk

Revainrating 3 out of 5

It is in order; There are occasional splashes/squeaks I suspect.

Depends on what you want to achieve. This is fine for dictation with reasonable audio to listen to or for manual transcription; There are bursts/squeaks from time to time, which I suspect are mostly compression artifacts, dimming microseconds here or there. It's not the clearest sound, and depending on setup and usage, there can be dimming background noise. Therefore, it may not be sufficient to capture a dictation with the intention of using it with speech-to-text software that accepts input from audio files, such as B. some versions of Nuance/Dragon Naturally Speaking; It works well for this purpose in a very quiet/isolated office environment, but I've found it woefully lacking (sometimes utterly useless) in large rooms with all sorts of fuss, running water etc., or in a running vehicle when that's required - en route, mainly due to the opaque white noise background.

Pros
  • Digital Voice Recorders
Cons
  • I vaguely remember
