Review on WD_Black Game Thunderbolt Connectivity WDBA3U0020BBK NESN by Jyothish Pillai

It's an RGB fan dock, but where does it fit?

The 1TB WD_Black D50 gaming dock stands for quality. Metal construction for heat dissipation, flash support, beautiful RGB lighting, and fast NVMe storage. It is quite obvious that it is intended for computer gamers, but for which segment? The construction of this product screams quality gaming accessories. Its appearance resembles a cargo container, and the choice of ports is impressive. Each USB port is clear with its speed (4x 10 Gb/s Type-A and 2x 10 Gb/s Type-C), two Thunderbolt ports, one of which delivers 87 W, a display port, a network port (Gigabit) and a labeled 3.5mm headphone jack. There is also a powerful 1 TB NVMe drive. All in one sleek, compact container (pun intended). Obviously this docking station is geared towards the gaming laptop crowd, be it gaming or video/graphics work, but I don't find it really makes sense for me. In my testing, this product does not work without a power adapter (in fact, it needs to be powered from the Thunderbolt port). This means that there is an extra socket that constantly consumes energy. This would make sense if gaming laptops could actually be powered and charged from an 87W Thunderbolt port, but I've yet to see a dedicated graphics gaming PC that actually accepts anything in that range. What other benefits can this product offer? External storage via fast Thunderbolt connection. This $450 product offers 1 TB of additional storage. What 2TB NVMe drives are available much cheaper, I'd rather upgrade the internal storage to 2TB instead. Then it leaves the dock. All ports are high quality and your monitor, network, keyboard, mouse, headset and speakers can all be connected through a single Thunderbolt connection. It's convenient, but I don't think it justifies the price as there are many docking stations that work just as well, albeit over a USB 3.1 connection. bonus for it. I personally think there are just better ways to get the same or better results when it comes to upgrading your gaming laptop. . Some Macbooks only have two Thunderbolt ports, and all of them cannot be easily upgraded, so this product really brings value to these consumers. But then does it make sense to spend an extra 35% of the price of a laptop (the 13-inch MacBook Pro costs $1,299) to fix the problems Apple has brought to its laptops? I think if you're already in their ecosystem, that's fine. Of course, this doesn't mean that Apple is the only one.
