Basically, this is what you think a sports drink should be.

So I'm going to contextualize and preface the rest of this review by saying that I'm pretty sloppy when it comes to exercise. I ride my bike whenever I can and go to the gym relatively briefly when the weather is not conducive to cycling. I'm not a professional cyclist, bodybuilder or athlete; I exercise just to keep fit and prevent my family's heart problems by running about 400 miles a month (sounds far but really isn't). Sports drinks have never been my passion. On the one hand you have drinks like C4 and there is a use case there, but not for people like me who just want to keep fit. Then there are "sports" drinks like Gatorade, which are sweet, expensive, and not much. . . useless. For a long time I didn't really add any additives to my water, but eventually I started looking for something that wasn't obscenely sweet and didn't have nasty side effects, but just gave me some. additional supporting power, and one person suggested Skratchlabs to me. Now I could spend some more time reading up on the intricacies of the scent, but let me put it this way: it's good. I like it. Your mileage may vary. It's a light and refreshing lemon/lime flavor and part of me started to wonder if adding some mint wouldn't really be a bad idea. When used as directed, it's not sickeningly sweet like drinks like Gatorade, and it fits directly into the purpose of Skratchlabs' Hydration blend to be a hydration booster and endurance booster, not actual fuel. This is great because it does two things: it retains the great taste, and it reduces the actual calorie content of the mix, which allows you to increase the burn rate from other sources. The bottom line is that it's a fresh, clean taste, and you won't get tired of drinking it after a few sips. Actual performance, I would say endurance, for cycling purposes, the boost I get from use varies widely as there are too many variables involved to try to randomly quantify the effect within a single cyclist. I will say that from a subjective point of view the difference between day and night. If I had to guess, my range increases by at least 35% on average, simply due to fatigue and muscle fatigue that doesn't happen that quickly. As a disclaimer, I would like to acknowledge the possibility that the placebo effect is at play here, but I have serious doubts that this can explain anything. Variables in the game, the dates are a bit more specific. The difference was amazing. Typically my program consists of about 10 minutes of stretching, 2km of rowing, 35 minutes on a stationary bike with a resistance level roughly mimicking a 100rpm ride at 13-15mph, then 5 x 5 of everything I can imagine for the hands. until I'm too tired to continue. The difference here was that I really *didn't* get exhausted. In fact, I was able to train until muscle fatigue set in and performance declined. It was a little more subtle in endurance conditions like cycling, but the number of reps I could do with my arms was noticeably higher. All in all, after 6 months of use, I'm giving this a thumbs up. . My seal of approval is completely useless but I love this stuff, it works and it's exactly what I want in a sports drink.
