I've never used a knife sharpener but my knives get very dull so this was a must. I was a little afraid of sharpening the knife but I think the way this product is designed with a pole to hold and secure the product is much safer than a regular knife sharpener. It comes with a glove which I feel more confident wearing which is a nice bonus. Being new to knife sharpening, I was a little unsure of which knife slots to use. I read the manual but struggled with the processing instructions and it would have been better if I watched a video or had someone explain it to me, but despite my lack of experience I found it quite easy and fun to use and it it seemed to sharpen my knives visibly :) And I liked that it also has a special slot for sharpening scissors. It was a nice bonus!
