I'm always a bit hesitant to buy such cheap electronics. But we missed the fun for two kids on a 16 hour drive and needed something quick. BestBuy and Walmart sold out of portable DVD players, and they were the only ones that could ship next day. Overall, I'm glad I bought them. We stored a lot of content on SD cards and brought DVDs. You have to be careful with the file format you save on the SD card because the player couldn't recognize the files I saved the first time. Luckily I caught it before we left and converted the files to another format that the player could recognize. The file format I had to use was .AVI and it couldn't be HD quality, it had to be saved as SD. My youngest son broke the SD card reader in one of the players so I'm not sure if he really jammed the card there or if the SD card slot is really fragile. Fortunately, this happened after the trip. Everything else still works as well with the player, you just have to use the USB slot instead of the SD card slot. In terms of DVD and SD card picture quality I think it's decent for the price you pay. Not HD quality, but DVD quality from the early 2000s - that's what I would call it. My daughter's only complaint was the contrast in the night scenes of the films. It was difficult to make out anything at night or in other dark scenes due to the bright sun in the windows and the high contrast. So she just covered herself and the player with a blanket and everything was fine. The battery life depends only on one movie, so you should keep it connected to the car. The speakers are what you would expect for the price. Almost useless if there is any background noise. But since there are headphone jacks, it didn't matter. We hung them on the backs of car seats and the kids used the remote controls to switch from DVD to SD card. The only really annoying part was that if you wanted to change a DVD, you had to take out the player, flip the screen to eject the disc and insert a new one, then flip the screen back and tuck it back into the headrest cover. They survived two weeks on the road with a 3 year old and an 8 year old so that was all that mattered to me! Overall I would definitely buy again.
