This KN-COSM-IBA is an interchangeable upgrade block that is a direct replacement for KN-COSM-IB.

This KN-COSM-IBA is a direct replacement for my KN-COSM-IB which has decided to announce its "End of Life" with a quick double chirp every 30 seconds at 3:30am " to announce when everyone was asleep. I ordered this new unit the next day and received it on a cold day so I brought it inside and let the new unit acclimate to room temperature/humidity overnight. The next morning, as instructed, I connected the three-pronged connector (black, white, red) that came with my old unit to this unit, then added two AA batteries, making sure the red spring tabs were in the battery compartment were place. for each battery. The device immediately went into test mode. On the first test it 1) emits three long beeps, says "Fire", emits three long beeps. then. 2) emits four rapid beeps, says "Caution – Carbon Monoxide”, emits four rapid beeps. then. 3) emits the final beep, which means the check is complete, it is now ready for indoor air monitoring. The last thing to do was to install the unit on the mounting plate used for the old KN-COSM-IB unit which was still fixed to the ceiling. The whole process from unboxing to testing and installing the device took less than 3-4 minutes. I would like to point out that this new KN-COSM-IBA unit has a slightly different alert/alarm pattern for smoke, carbon monoxide, low battery and end of life than the older KN-COSM-IB due to the new owners . Management. This new unit has a lifespan of 10 years from the original power-up sequence. Mine should be fine by February 2029. I hope that the end of life warning will be issued during the day and not in the middle of the night.
