Review on SHIMANO T4000 Front V-Brake - Enhanced with Sleek Black Finish by Joseph Quade

Fantastic Shimano V-brakes

These brakes are really good if a bit pricey when bought as a set but worth every penny. See all V-brakes work on my Huffy bike which I'm going to end up giving to a friend as I've now switched to a used specialty bike I bought from someone local. Getting back to the brakes, the quality of the Shimano Alivio BR-T4000 is pretty pleasing considering they only come in silver or black. My previous brakes (which were of this particular model) had a spring that broke after flexing too much. I've learned that you can flex the springs when the bolt tightening the spring can't be tightened any more, when you can't get any action from one side or the other, or when your V-brakes are rubbing against the rim of your wheels . As a result, the holding brake spring broke on the old BR-T4000. Since they don't sell these brakes individually I bought a new set although the other one was fine. It's like if you have a pair of shoes and one shoe has a hole and the other is bad, then you throw out the old ones, replace them and buy a new pair. I had to do it, but ok if the other spring breaks I have a spare spring on hand. I've decided to have spares on hand in case I need them, not a bad idea. I would highly recommend Shimano, they make great bike parts and some amazing stuff.
