Review on FG-SOLO-00010 Thin Film Monocrystalline Solar Panel by Wildgame Innovations by Steve Quinn

Revainrating 5 out of 5

6V emergency backup charger

Unit has approximately 4-1/2 feet of cord. The small alligator clips are colored to match. 2 feet 2 inches from the solar panel is reinforced with a flexible metal sheath that has a set of screw couplings that allow it to be attached to metal bulkheads to avoid stress on the cable. 2 inch in transparent plastic housing. A metal mounting plate for the feeder is included; screws included. The panel's measured output voltage in bright sunlight was 9 volts with no load. This small panel was purchased to charge the UB645 batteries that power the shortwave receiver during extended power outages and to work at a remote base camp. I couldn't measure the wattage with my ammeter, but according to other sources it should keep the UB645 battery charged for 7 hours when fully charged by sunlight. The plate is removed from the mounting plate. The mounting plate offers a variety of mounting options for the do-it-yourselfer. The device makes a robust and weather-resistant impression. An image detail description; the device does NOT have a metal frame, as one might assume from the picture. There are holes on the outer edges that can be fitted with a metal corner for extra edge protection. So far this little panel seems to be doing its job. The small size doesn't have a big profile and numerous mounting options for those who need stealth. Based on initial handling and testing I would recommend this to anyone who needs a small pad for backing up or charging low profile 6V UB645 batteries.
