The magnet was not attached to the bolt
I have been using magnetic oil drain plugs in cars for many years and they work, but when this one came the magnet was not attached to the bolt at all. It looked like a small bead of glue had been applied, but it wasn't even strong enough to stay in place. At least I didn't install it in such a way that it would come loose and get stuck somewhere in the motor.
