Review on ✏️ Swanson Tool Co CP216 AlwaysSharp Refillable Carpenter Pencil with Black Graphite Tips by Darius Early

Revainrating 4 out of 5

An excellent carpenter's pencil but without the flimsy pocket clip.

This is my favorite marking tool. They work like the old popper pens I had at school years ago: you pull out the lead holder from the front and insert it from the back to slide the new holder up. In addition, the mines in the holders are reversible. So before you remove the lead holder, pull out the lead and flip it over and you'll get double the benefit of each holder. My biggest gripe with these pens is that the pocket clips suck. I have 2 places where I mainly carry a pencil with me: on the back of my head or in my pocket; If you keep them in your pocket, the small plastic clip will inevitably break and the slim, rectangular pencil will fall into your pocket. I was stronger with the clamps, someone made a replacement because once the clamp breaks the grip loses a lot of its usefulness and ease of use. I put them in retractors and attach them to the saws so the pencil is always there which means reading the bars becomes a hassle. hard enough to hold and not break in use.

Pros
  • FEATURES: Convenient pocket clip to attach to tool belt or pocket
Cons
  • Legacy
