Review on πŸͺ’ FaTip Grande Double Edge Safety Razor - Nichelato by Paul Curd

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Comfortable and quick shave. however, certain conditions apply

I have one of the best shaving results with this shaver. I have very thick hair and sensitive skin. The most remarkable thing is that the shaving time has been drastically reduced. Before that, my normal razor was a Merkur long handle. I chose this razor as a replacement because I didn't like the pencil-like (albeit long) Merkur handle. However, we have also noticed that the shaving soap gets clogged in the closed Merkur comb. A notable difference from other razors is that the bezel is quite small and quite exposes the blade. This makes the razor more aggressive with the blade inserted, which bothered me at first. So I settled on a much blunter blade than my regular feathers that I used on the Merkur. I installed a Persona razor (made in the USA) on this razor and the shave was brilliant. The shave was clean and comfortable. Haven't tried Feathers in this razor yet but I think it will be too sharp for her. I will let Feathers grow for 2-3 days and only use them on a Merkur closed comb razor. This razor is aggressive but works well with a dull blade. In addition, the shaving time is significantly reduced. and for that reason this will be my regular everyday razor from now on. And why did I give 4 stars and not 5? Well, the blade must be carefully aligned when replacing it. When the blade is set on 3 pins there is a lot of play so I have to hold it and line it up with the plate when twisting it tight. This has never happened with a high quality German Merkur razor, even with 3 different blade brands. Looking back, I wish I had bought a good quality MΓΌhle open comb razor instead. But it was more expensive and I just wanted to try an open razor first without risking too much money. In addition, reviews about this razor were good. The blade setting is a small problem. for now. UPDATE 04 DEC 2014: I tried spring blades in this razor and it didn't cut my face like I initially thought it would. In fact, it was slightly more comfortable than when used with a Merkur long-handle razor. I think the best way to describe the Fatip Grande razor is that it brings out the best in every blade. I don't even understand why ALL double edged razors don't comb like this one. This razor is gentle enough to be suitable even for beginners. There was a small problem: the coating on the front panel was peeling off. It's very small and doesn't interfere with my shave, but it's noticeable and makes me wonder if it will show more over the life of the razor. I've only had it for 4 weeks! This confirms my opinion that it is not as good as other higher quality razors. UPDATE MAY 27, 2015: After many months of use I have tried 3 different blades with this razor: Feather, Derby and Personna (made in USA). Derbies were too boring to cut my thick beard. I had to press harder to get the same effect, which of course made my face look rougher. The springs were so sharp that they cut little bumps in my face with an exposed blade. The people were spot on. Not only is my shave quick, it's VERY comfortable afterwards. I look forward to shaving in the morning! These blades are slightly narrower which is perfect for the Fatip Grande which exposes the blade more. I recommend anyone with thick hair and sensitive skin to pair this razor with the Personna razor. Here is the order link: [.]
