The failure of the rock tamers.

Overall this product is excellent. BUT, if you have a 2017 Silverado 2500 6.0L Double Cab Pickup, DO NOT BUY IT WITHOUT SOLVING THE EXHAUST SYSTEM PROBLEM. Fearing the distance, I called Rock Tamers support. From the exhaust pipe on this truck and the RT fender. I was told that if you have at least 8 inches of clearance there shouldn't be any problems. It's not like that at all. I had a clearance of 8 1/4" to 9.75" (tubular shaft cut at an angle) to the fender. I decided I was fine. After driving home from camp (2 hours) I looked at the fender and saw bubbles on the exhaust pipe. side and deformation on the side of the trailer. I couldn't believe it. I emailed Rock Tamers explaining this with pictures. No Answer. Sent another email surprised by her lack of concern. I received an email saying they were very busy but would get back to me later in the day. The next day I received a standard email suggesting moving the levers that were set and/or using a heat shield. They gave me the name of the company that made the heat shield. Interestingly, there is no question of voiding the warranty using this heat shield, as was explained to me on the first phone call. I understand. But I don't think they have any sort of warranty as there was damage and no offer to replace damaged item. I honestly think if you don't have an exhaust that blows straight onto the flap this could be a great product but from a company that doesn't know anything about customer satisfaction. 2017 Silverado 2500 Gas, DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! Update: Rock Tamers have come forward and paid for a new fender. I think they also added a heat shield. Very understanding company once you received the letterhead. love these things!
