Review on Sony FE 55mm F1.8 Sonnar T ZA Full Frame Prime Lens (Fixed) by Pin Lin ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

I should have looked for better, I spent my money on a mediocre product.

I used the lens in conjunction with Sonya7RIII. I read positive reviews about it and took it as the first regular lens for the new Sony carcass. For more than a year I have been looking for those very positive aspects, but alas, the lens for the photo did not work for me. I specialize in portraits, and I love when the shots are really sharp even at high magnification. This lens does not give such sharpness (so that lovers of photographing "fences and dandelions" do not talk about it). The color reproduction is disgusting. In addition, I personally do not like swirling bokeh, and the blur itself is ragged and not beautiful. In the winter, dark season with such a lens is boring. For video, this lens will go more successfully, due to its low weight it will fit perfectly with a small stabilizer for any Sony A7 camera.

Pros
  • Light weight and dimensions Assembly and design Relatively good sharpness
Cons
  • Strong background rounding Flat bokeh circles towards the edges Color rendering Not as sharp as they say
