This replacement works just like the old broken one. It was easy to set up. Simply open the battery compartment, set the DIP switches to match your old remote and insert the battery. The problem is that the position of the dip switches is such that if you put a battery in the remote (like we've all done hundreds of times before) the dip switches are flipped to the wrong settings and of course the remote then it doesn't work. So be careful when installing the battery or just close the cover if it slips off.
